Lets get the SALT out of our Universal Solvent!!!

There is no shortage of  water on the planet Earth - but there is just a shortage of fresh water . New Technologies may offer better ways of getting salt out .

According to a recent survey , 300 million people now get their water from the sea or brackish ground water that is too salty to drink . That's double the number a decade ago . Desalination took in the 1970's  Middle East and has since spread 150 countries . Within the next 6 years new desalination plants  may add as much as 13 million gallons a day to water supply which is equivalent to the flow of our Krishna  river.

THE REASON FOR THIS SUDDEN BOOM IS SIMPLE : As population grows ...... agriculture, industry etc keeps growing , as a result fresh water - especially clean and clear water - is getting scarcer and it's much cheaper than it was 2 decade's ago .

The first desalination method - and still the most common , especially in oil rich countries along the Persian Gulf - was Brute force distillation which is a method of heating sea water until it turns to steam leaving its salt behind and then by condensing it . For Example , the plants that opened recently in Tampa Bay, Florida and Perth , Australia is all about reverse Osmosis , in which water is forced through a membrane that catches the salt . Pumping seawater to pressure's of more than a thousand pounds for square inch takes less energy than boiling it , but it is still expensive .

Researchers are now working  on at least 3 new technological methods that could cut the fresh water crisis.............the FIRST one is the Forward Osmosis - it draws water through the porous membrane into a solution that contains even more salt water than sea water with a kind of salt that is easily evaporated . The Second one approaches the re-design of the membrane itself by using carbon nano tubes as pores . The Third is by using the same proteins that Usher water molecules through the membranes of living cells .

The other one which I suggest is the usage of single poled houses which reduces the usage of fresh water up to 30 % . the design of them are pictured below . The use of these kind of houses reduce the stress and provide relaxation to human busy minds.

Thus , these technologies promise to reduce the salt water content on Earth and increase the fresh water up to 60% . Now the race is on to see what will take its better chance to solve the problem.

THIS IS WRITTEN WITH A SMALL HOPE TO CREATE A LITTLE AWARENESS BUT NOT TO HURT ANYONE.
